Evan's pottery was founded by Evan Javan Brown, Jr ~1964, one of the Georgia Browns who moved to North Carolina. Evan Brown was the son of Javan Brown who moved to Arden, NC with his brother Davis Brown. The Browns are a large pottery family famous for their face jugs and other primitive southern pottery. The North Carolina Browns are where Jerry Brown in Alabama came from as well (a grandson of Davis Brown, I believe). The Brown family has made pottery for over 250 years in many states, including: Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi. Cherry Brown Corn, daughter of Evan and Madeline Callahan Brown continues to run Evan's Pottery today.
