John Rufus Meaders was a highly skilled and highly collectible folk potter who was born in 1916 and died in 1999. John was the older brother of Lanier Meaders, perhaps the most famous of all Georgia potters. John was the oldest son of Arie and Cheever Meaders and grandson of John Milton Meaders, who started the family pottery in 1893.
